Surgical Camp

Surgical eye camp is one of the methods, which provides the sight restoring surgery at the doorstep for those people who can not come to hospital on their own. The survey conducted in the country has revealed various barriers for low service intake from hospital. Among them, some prominent are; lack of knowledge, poverty, fear of surgery and lack of transportation. Surgical camps are organized in remote areas and the main objective of organizing such camps is to overcome those barriers. Surgical camps are intended to clear the backlog of cataract surgical blindness.  HEH conducts 8t to 10 surgical camps every year. Among them, four will be Karnaki zone and remaining in Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zones. The surgical camps are organized in partnership with Redcross, local clubs etc.  Every year, almost 10000 patients are examined and 1500 patients get sight restoring surgery through the surgical camps organized by HEH. The camp will be of 5 to 7 days long and are organized in the building of schools, club, health posts etc.
